No Bubbles, Just Swash
A friend of mine once complained that hiking with me was no fun because I could spend hours photographing river mud and wood grain. He felt it was less like a hike enjoying the fresh air and amazing scenery and more like an incredibly boring mobile photo session (for him; I was having a great time). On a recent road trip to the Washington coast (more on that later), I took a walk on the beach in the late afternoon. Should I have been gazing out to sea or rock climbing? Definitely. Where I ended up was mostly hunched over the patterns that the wind was blowing into the sand illuminated by the low sun. And I did spend a little quality time enjoying my surroundings. It’s bad luck to go to the beach and not go wading in the surf…
