Image + Word
I have been trying to explain to a lot of folks recently about what the latest project is all about. I’ll save the official statement for the gallery, but I did promise to give a sample of what “Wish You Were Here” will look like.
It’s hard to tell whether this body of work is a group of illustrated poems or poetically annotated images. Both image and word build on each other as they are being written/created and become intertwined, although each should be able to stand on its own. Each pairing is wrapped around a particular piece of the puzzle, such as motherhood or loss or death or love. Those ideas in turn tie back to the central theme of desire for physical, mental, or spiritual proximity.
But rather than ramble on about the process, here is a small slice of the finished whole.
