Let’s Set Stuff On Fire!
Admittedly, when I was small, the chief allure to Girl Scouts was setting things on fire and playing with knives (archery and knot-tying being close seconds) neither of which was allowed at home. Years down the road, I can still be mesmerized by fire and I am not alone. Who hasn’t spent hours staring into a fire, letting your mind wander as flames dance and embers smolder? Alone or in the company of others; cooking or camping or ceremonial bonfire, some of my happiest moments have taken place around a good roaring fire. So why not take pictures?
Of course, I am not always good at leaving things in their natural state… It’s good to look at the everyday from a new perspective. The images in this first set are only negative images. They haven’t been otherwise doctored.
For the next set, I’ve returned to the proper side of the looking glass, but done in black and white, and the flames are all the more eerie for it.
Finally, I have to say that fire has a beauty of its own that I don’t really have to tamper with.
Go forth and make fire!
(safely and legally please- stupid humans setting wildfires is definitely not happy or magical)
