Industrial Portland Redux
Last weekend, I had a chance to go out with the critique group I work with at Newspace Center for Photography (check them out!) on a new industrial assignment. I haven’t finished working through all of the images, but I couldn’t wait to put up a few…
One would think that growing up around trains, I would be jaded to their charms. And here, I sat for the better part of an hour or so to get the right effect of slow moving boxcars…
There is also something about the shape of razor and barbed wire that fascinate me. It helps that I’ve been interested in the symbolism of spirals lately.
There’s a part of me that really wants to retouch out that spider web. I am still undecided.
This is obviously a composite of elements found during the assignment. The signage “I Will Not Hurt Myself” and “I Will Not Hurt Others” really existed where I was shooting. I will not share why it exists, since that would change your perception of the image. It made an interesting concept.
Lastly, a bit of something natural- a leaf from a plant grown wild in a vacant lot.
I was a little worried that the intensely bright noonish sunlight would make shooting difficult. It was not what I would have chosen as ideal, but overall I’m please with what I found for the day.
