Hands Off the Internet!
As an artist, I do everything in my power to make sure that my own work is protected from unscrupulous and uncredited use. For visual artists, the internet, especially social networking, has been an incredible tool for getting work seen by the public, though copyright abuse and concept theft are a reality. I understand the desire for business to protect their interests, but net censorship, this time in the form of the PIPA/SOPA bill proposed by Congress is the wrong way to address those threats. By now, we are all familiar with the internet blackouts and I urge anyone who hasn’t already voiced their protest to do so before the January 24th vote.
